Number Porting

Keep the number your customers already dial

Porting a phone number is the part most AI receptionist companies hand back to you. AnswerPilot coordinates the carrier transfer end-to-end so your existing line moves over with no downtime and no service ticket on your end.

From the day you hand over the details, a typical port takes 5–10 business days. We file the Letter of Authorization on your behalf and handle every status check with your losing carrier. You only need four things from your latest phone bill: your account number, your PIN or passcode, your billing address, and an authorized contact for the port.

How porting works

Four steps from your old carrier to AnswerPilot

Follow the same flow our onboarding specialists run on every port. Each step has a clear before/after so you know when the number is yours on the new carrier.

Step 1
Submit your number + account details
You provide the number to port and the account details off your current carrier bill. We file the Letter of Authorization (LOA) on your behalf so you don't have to call your carrier.
Step 2
We coordinate the carrier transfer
AnswerPilot's onboarding team handles the back-and-forth with your losing carrier, including any FOC date negotiation, so the change happens on your schedule.
Step 3
Carrier-side transfer (typically 5–10 business days)
Your losing carrier releases the number on the scheduled date. Most ports complete in under two weeks; simple ports can land in 3–5 days.
Step 4
Cutover — your number is live on AnswerPilot
On cutover day, inbound calls route to your AI receptionist with no downtime. Your existing customers keep dialing the same number and never notice a change.
